Second day in Sahara

The second day was spent travelling mainly on the train track as the sand was too soft. Fortunately, we didn’t encounter the long train which requires 15km to stop, however we did come across a maintenance train which scared us by travelling towards us only to stop just in front and enquire as to what we were doing. We had made very slow progress as the track was hard on tyres and everyone suffered at least one puncture. We were told by organisation to leave one team from our group of three cars to follow later as they were on their 8th or 9th puncture that day. We finally made it to the camp site in Atar around 9pm. Upon arrival we sought out the only cold cokes in town and enjoyed a great evening meal at the camp. Three cars failed to make it to camp as they were still stuck in the desert.
